The Determinations series of books (Polygon) goes in the same direction in places. So with magazines like Cencrastus or Radical Scotland. Similarly with the folk music scene. To say that these people didn't love Scottish culture or the Scottish people is not true at all. The subversion happened after that as part of the drive to take on Labour in the central belt.

No-one had dreamed of the scale of modern immigration in the 1980s, or the effects of abortion on the size of the local population.
This is basically to say that there needs to be a radical right pro-independence party in Scotland. The question is: who will start it?
Your analysis is accurate. The SNP politicians I know and work among have little to distinguish them in terms of policy from the other parties except their hatred of the “UK” which means the English. Thus as you say anyone can be Scottish if they share that hatred.
I suspect that it would be impossible to give an example of anything which a Scottish (or new Scottish) person might reasonably want to do, which England prevents him from doing. Am I wrong?
Children's plimsolls - white! The Swans in Holyrood Park - white! The clouds - white! The snow - white! The boards used in classrooms - white! Ice-creams - white! Toilet paper - white! Tablecloths - white! People's teeth - white! The milk in every bottle - white! The whites of people's eyes - white! How is this acceptable in modern Scotland?! The SNP would put tolerance at the top of any list national traits. But they would do the same for any EU member state. Scotland is the only country in Europe I would not be prepared to visit. I would expect animosity just for being English, but once they heard any of my opinions all hell would break loose - even outside of Glasgow.
I hope the Scottish people choose to leave Great Britain at the next opportunity. It's the only thing that might see off the SNP and make native Scots pay attention to who the poisonous ones in their own country are now that the hated English are just geographical neighbours.
If they do this, I would wish them all the best. The first couple of decades might be tough financially, but there is a lot more to life than money. Free of the SNP, an independent Scotland could become very interesting.
